Many of you care about the ingredients in your favourite foods from The Co-operative Food and you make that clear to us on social media.
Hacked off to find palm oil used in the stuffing I bought today from the Co-op, thought they would be more Orangutan friendly than that!

You consider where the ingredients come from, and the impact harvesting them and using them in cooking has on the environment in which we live. We care too.
Palm oil is one such ingredient that we’re often asked questions about. Why? Because palm oil is an edible vegetable oil that comes from certain trees often found in Africa and South America, meaning that harvesting it can lead to deforestation and loss of natural habitat for endangered animals such as the Orang-utan.
The Co-operative is committed to championing a better way of doing business, and deforestation of our planet doesn’t fit in with our purpose. That’s why we ensure that 100% of the palm oil used in our own-brand products is harvested sustainably.
That’s not all though, our commitment to tackling deforestation means we ensure the wood and the paper we use throughout the wider business comes from sustainable sources too.
The Co-operative’s purpose, to champion a better way of doing business for you and your communities, means that sustainability isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s not just a “box ticker,” sustainability is at the very heart of what we do and how we do it.
