As part of our charity partnership with the British Red Cross, colleagues within our stores are always finding fun ways to raise money within their local communities. Recently twenty-one of our stores in North Devon and Somerset held a Super Hero Day.

The colleagues at all twenty-one stores dressed up as their favourite super hero for the day and hosted cake stalls, tombolas and raffles.

However the big challenge was for the Area Manager, Nick who was tasked to visit each of the stores on his motorcycle in just one day. Bets were made on how many miles Nick would clock up while dressed as Superman on his bike.

To ensure no store was missed Nick had to have his photo taken with every store team. Never one to shy from a challenge he donned his Superman costume at 7am in the morning and covered 206 miles on the day until he reached the final store at 8pm.

By the end of the day, the grand total reached £5000 and all proceeds were given to the British Red Cross. This year stores within the south of England have raised £130,000 of the £2 million raised for the British Red Cross by Co-op colleagues.
