Welcome back to the Consumer Services Executive team who look after our Funeralcare, Legal Services and Insurance businesses.
They’ve just finished a two-day road trip around Cumbria raising awareness and funds for British Red Cross to help tackle loneliness in our communities.
On Wednesday they had an 8am start making brews in return for donations at our Support centre in Manchester before heading north to a funeral home in Penrith to wash cars and hearses.
Then they drove to Carlisle to serve afternoon tea to local residents. They also dropped in to visit an elderly customer whose property had been badly affected by the floods earlier this year.
On Thursday they packed bags, stacked shelves and collected donations in three food stores, before helping out at a British Red Cross shop in Penrith – cleaning up, steaming clothes and chatting to customers.
Rod Bulmer, Chief Executive Officer of Consumer Services, said:
“We’ve had a brilliant time in Cumbria. It’s been a full-on two days, but well worth it as we’ve met lots of colleagues, members and local people.
“The support has been great, so thanks to everyone that’s donated and helped us raise over £6,000 so far.
“The best bit for me is that we’ve learned so much about tackling loneliness from talking to local people, and we’ve raised awareness of the need to talk about loneliness.”
