We’re covering the ‘Tampon tax’
131 words, approx. 1.5 minutes to read.
I’m pleased to announce we’re covering the cost of the so-called ‘Tampon tax.’ From tomorrow, 30 August, anyone buying women’s sanitary products from Co-op will no longer pay VAT (value-added tax).
In real terms, this means that from tomorrow, 30 August, we’re reducing the cost of Co-op own brand and branded women’s sanitary by five per cent, ahead of Government proposals to remove the VAT. This covers the cost of VAT for anyone buying pads, liners, towels and tampons from their local Co-op.
The price of all the 71 Co-op own brand and branded sanitary products stocked in Co-op will be cut.
Of course, Co-op Members also get 5% back when they buy Co-op own brand products, women’s sanitary products included, so there’s more to be saved by shopping Co-op.

The government was completely wrong in assessing sanitary wear as Luxury items !! Any woman will tell you it could only have been instigated by men !!
It’s something we have no control over and has to be purchased regardless.
Well done Co-op ! it should have been re-graded years ago !!!!!

Excellent news, didn’t the Co-op as CWS do something similar many years ago, to push the argument for dropping this unfair taxation.
