Cumbrian stores welcome local produce
199 words, approx. 2 minutes to read.
This month we have welcomed eight new local businesses that are now supplying over 40 new products to Co-op stores in Cumbria. This is how we’re helping small businesses with our Small Business Charter.
We’ve partnered with local Cumbrian breweries; Handsome Brewery in Bowston, Eden brewery in Penrith and Stringers Brewery in Ulverston and Kendal based George Romney’s will be supplying hand-made butter fudge, after dinner mints, old fashioned treacle toffee and their iconic mint cake. Ginger Bakers too will supply chocolate brownies, caramel shortbread and ginger cake.
Tea and coffee merchant Farrer’s will supply 30 shops in Cumbria, as well as Lancashire with its No. 1 Blend Cafetiere Grind Coffee and its Lakeland Special Teabags whilst Cumbrian Delights, will supply damson jam, chutney, marmalade, their chilli jam and more.
For Co-op, backing local produce is about much more than just ‘hanging out the bunting’, Cumbrian food and drink is world-renowned and our Co-op is committed to investing in its local communities.

I cannot find where to buy Co-op Stem Ginger Shortbread biscuits. They used to be available in East Sussex, but I have not managed to find them on the shelves recently.
