We’re sharing data on the money we’ve given to local causes through our Local Community Fund. We want to be open about where our members’ money is going and let others see the projects that Co-op members have supported. This is our first step into open data publishing for the Co-op and shows our commitment to co-operative values and principles.

From October, we are publishing data on the first 4,000 local causes supported by the fund. The data will align with the 360Giving standard. 360Giving is a charity that supports better decision-making and learning across the charitable giving sector. Together with the work that 360Giving does, we hope to encourage co-operation between grant awarding bodies.

The data will be available on 360Giving’s GrantNav platform so that it’s:

  • easy to find and understand
  • easy to connect with other data sources
  • easy to compare with funding data from other organisations e.g. Comic Relief, Big Lottery Fund, Children in Need and others

We’ll continue to publish data for future rounds of our Local Community Fund, starting with the current round of causes, which we’ll be paying in November.

If you’re a Co-op Member and haven’t chosen which local cause to support with your 1% yet, log in to your Membership account and choose your cause now so that they receive your contribution in November’s payout. You’ve got until 11 November to do this.

Could you let me know when your data will be loaded to this open data system and what I will need to do to be able to access the data?
    Thanks
