We’re excited to announce today the launch of our new Co-op travel insurance which has been built with input from our Co-op Members.

We’ll pay so you don’t have to

We’re proud that our new product is inclusive of all ages and medical conditions. Plus we’re the first general insurer to pay medical expenses up front. (Available in selected destinations. Important limitations, restrictions & excess apply; visit our website for more information.) This ensures that you are not left out of pocket at what can already be a stressful time.

Today, the average travel insurance claim is £2090 and our research shows that many have to gain additional help to cover this cost. A quarter turn to family members, a further quarter take money out of their savings and a tenth ended up in debt as a result of having to pay the claim themselves and then claim this back from their insurer*.

Support before, during and after your trip

Our travel insurance product offers help and advice not only during your trip, but also before and after.

We offer Co-op customers access to an online medical consultation with a General Medical Council (GMC) registered doctor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world. So you can use an app on your smartphone or tablet to speak to doctors both prior to jetting off and during your holidays. Users can also receive prescriptions, referrals and fit-for-work notes, avoiding the need to navigate unfamiliar health systems and overcome language barriers.

Our new travel insurance can be broken down into the following three policies; Single Trip, Annual / Multi-trip and Backpacker travel insurance and encompasses three phases of travelling pre, during and post trips as follows:

  3. […] What a great start to the year we’ve had. In January we announced that we’re opening 100 new food stores in communities up and down the UK, investing £50m in reducing food prices, and we launched a new travel insurance product too. […]
