Our Co-op is the first retailer to only stock 100% Fairtrade roses in all our bouquets, when sourcing from Africa.
This commitment extends beyond just single roses to full bouquets, meaning almost 35 million Co-op Fairtrade African roses will be sold each year.
Co-op Fairtrade supports communities around the world, like Naivasha in Kenya
As well as the Fairtrade Premium, we’re making a donation of £30,000, generated by the sales of Co-op Fairtrade African roses in February and March 2018, to help fund a Graduate Nursing Programme in the community hospital in Naivasha, Kenya, where our roses are grown.
The nurse to patient ratio in Naivasha is currently 60:1. This programme will support graduate nurses with training around increased patient care.
Find out how our Co-op also supports Tilimuqui in Argentina, where our Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Malbec is made, in this short film.
Co-op Fairtrade also supports communities locally, in the UK
By buying Co-op Fairtrade products, Co-op Members not only support communities around the world, but they support communities locally in the UK too.
When choosing Co-op Fairtrade products, including our Co-op Fairtrade African roses, members benefit their local community, through the Local Community Fund. Co-op Members earn 5% back for them on select Co-op products and services, as well as 1% back for their choice of local community cause.
Over 8,000 local community causes have benefitted from their share of £20 million from the Local Community Fund so far.
