The Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation was created to build stronger communities through sport by offering sports, health and educational based opportunities. These opportunities are enriching, inspiring and celebrating the Warrington community, while delivering a thriving programme for people with disabilities and additional needs.

The community fund kick started our transformation

We applied to the Co-op Local Community Fund with the aim to transform our Touchdown Cafe based in the heart of the Warrington community, and were thrilled when we found out we had been selected. The funding has kick started a plan to transform the dining area into an inclusive dementia-friendly café supported by Game Changer volunteers.

Delivering services and projects that are changing people’s lives.

The transformation of the cafe has meant we can reach out further to our community while providing valuable experience to a number of vulnerable adults volunteering with us. It offers them the opportunity to develop cooking, cleaning and communication skills in a unique environment.

The Warrington Wolves and heritage theme of our cafe means it appeals to rugby fans and also targets groups in social isolation who can visit knowing that they can share their love of rugby.

Supporting a cause in your local community

It’s fantastic that Co-op Members can give back to their local community by simply using their membership card. It’s meant that we’ve had the support of Co-op Food stores on Padgate Lane and Orford Lane, alongside two Funeralcare homes in Warrington.

However, in Cheshire, there is still just under £134,000 waiting to be allocated to groups like ours in the area. If you’re a Co-op Member there is still time to select a cause on the Co-op membership website and make a huge difference to your community.

  1. Great to hear what Warrington Wolves are doing with their Local Community Fund funding, they are a great organisation working right at the heart of their community. And brilliant to see they are being well supported by Dave, their Member Pioneer and Store Manager at Padgate Lane.
