Woodchurch Church, based in Birkenhead, is a local cause which helps tackle loneliness and isolation of the elderly in their local community. By choosing Woodchurch as a local cause, Co-op Members are helping them to plan and hold an event aimed at improving the lives of the communities more vulnerable individuals.
I chose the Woodchurch Church to give my Co-op Member 1% community reward to as it felt very close to my heart. There’s a feel-good factor towards it. I feel good that I, along with other Co-op Members, am helping support my community when I buy Co-op branded products. It doesn’t matter how much you spend, it’s still growing.
“Thanks to the funding from Co-op’s Local Community Fund we will celebrate the 60th anniversary opening of Woodchurch by holding a day for older people facing loneliness and isolation.
The event will help make connections through a range of workshops, activities, nostalgia films, refreshments and registration to community groups. There will also be health sessions on dementia and gentle exercises. We’re looking forward to hosting the event and helping making a difference to those facing loneliness and isolation in our local community.”
As a member, when you buy selected Co-op products and services, 1%* of your spend goes to your chosen local community cause. You also get 5% back on your Membership card to spend at Co-op too. It’s win-win.
