I’m Elsa and I have three jobs. I’m a mother of two, I work at the Co-op Retail Support Centre and I’m a Co-op Member Pioneer.

The Co-op’s values really speak to me and align to a lot of what I believe in, I wanted to be closer to that so when the opportunity to become a Member Pioneer came around, I jumped at it.

By choosing Co-op* you’re supporting a business that funds good things like my Member Pioneer colleagues and me, to run local community projects. My local community is really important to me. I’ve got two young children, they’re 5 and 7 years old, I want them to grow up in a safe and happy place.

By being a Member Pioneer, I get to spend time connecting and bringing together local community projects and causes and I’m really grateful for the wonderful relationships I’ve been able to build with people in my community through my work. I like to think the projects and causes I support are grateful too; I’ve been made an honorary member of a local elderly peoples’ social club after all!

Cleaning up our community spaces

Recently I’ve been able to organise a local litter pick. There’s a park near my house where I take my children, but it’s been neglected of late and is full of litter and meant the local community we’re not using the space as much. My kids and I had previously taken part in litter picks with a local Gardening Committee, so I joined them to organise another.

Before long we had several local groups and causes donating their time and the local church group even offered to put on tea and biscuits for us all. We came away with over 30 bags of rubbish and a much nicer local park for us all to enjoy.

It’s my great passion to do great things with the community and to see the difference it makes means everything to me. I love it.
