Whether you’re a last-minute shopper or love to plan your presents well in advance, we have lots of great ideas that support people and planet. Fairtrade Manager Cate Hickey reveals her favourite Co-op Fairtrade gifts, so go a step further this Christmas and share the love by supporting Fairtrade producers from around the globe.

Sharing gifts is my favourite part of the Christmas holiday season. Shopping for something thoughtful, wrapping it up carefully and giving it to a loved one feels like the true spirit of Christmas.

This year, Co-op has a showstopping range of Fairtrade gifts instore – presents that give back to producers all over the world. By buying Fairtrade, you can trust that those who make the products, along with their families and communities, are getting a fairer deal and better able to protect the planet. Our Fairtrade gifts make perfect stocking fillers, secret Santa presents, and last-minute options for those unexpected guests.

Share a little something sweet

All Co-op chocolate is Fairtrade, so don’t miss the delicious selection instore this Christmas. Among other things, our commitment to Fairtrade cocoa has helped fund Fairtrade Africa’s Women’s School of Leadership, where women are trained in business and leadership skills.

Wrap up some Co-op Irresistible Belgian Chocolate Florentines or a Co-op Irresistible Free From Chocolate Box. Co-op Free From Caramel Filled Mini Santas or Co-op Irresistible Belgian Chocolate Baubles are fantastic for those with a sweet tooth, too. A box of Co-op Irresistible Salted Caramel Truffles and Co-op Salted Toffee Chocolate Popcorn make the perfect indulgence — not to mention a great choice for a Christmas movie marathon. And don’t forget to treat the children to Co-op Chocolate Lollies and Co-op Free From Chocolate Coins – the ultimate stocking fillers. All Fairtrade-certified.

Pour a splash of these Fairtrade favourites

Did you know Co-op is the largest seller of Fairtrade wine in the world? So, if you’re looking to treat someone special to a first-class bottle, you can choose one that also guarantees producers are paid fairly, with one of our Fairtrade Wines.

On my wine wish list this year is Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Organic Malbec — a powerful and robust Argentinian red packed with jammy dark fruit notes. The flavour isn’t the only thing to love about Fairtrade wine. The Fairtrade Premium we pay has helped build a school in the village of Tilimuqui, in north-west Argentina, in 2010, which today is attended by the children of the Fairtrade winemakers

Prefer a crisp white? Try our award-winning Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Sauvignon Blanc Reserva — a zesty and citrussy South African favourite.

And while you’re at it, why not pair a bottle of Fairtrade wine with your favourite chocolate?

Fire up the coffee machine

Introduce friends and loved ones to Fairtrade coffee with one of these gifts. Our whole range of own-brand coffee has been Fairtrade certified since 2003, when the price of coffee was at a 30-year low and farmers struggled to afford to grow it.

My top choices to wrap up and put under the tree this year are Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Kenyan Coffee Beans, Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Sumatran Ground Coffee and Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade Guatemalan Roast and Ground Coffee.

  1. TI malbec is a pretty decent bottle of wine, not so fussed on the Kenyan or the Sumatran coffee but the Guatemalan one is pretty damn good

  2. dear Catherine and all with the Co-operative, thank you for all your good work, i have missed much of the Co-op blogs as much else online because since May this year i have had limited wi-fi in the temporary accommodation i am living in; i was using a mobile wi-fi dongle, but then, though for adding another data bundle, i lost internet connection on the 27th august 2021 which was truly devastating for me, and through some really sad times in my life, it took a long time to get anotehr place to live away from husband with whom there were terrible problems and over years he alienated our oldest sons against me, which was heartbreaking to me, and have gone through years of bad times, youngest wonderful son of whom i was the full-time carer until he was 11 and a half if nowadays living in a wonderful place for people with special needs needs and we all love him and he us, though thank goodness i have been able to find mobile wi-fi i can use in different places, and right now i am in one of them, and hopefully with have another dongle soon, and hoping to dear old real true God that it works ok, anyway, want to say – the Cooperative – all your branches, is a wonderful organisation, and though i have to really be mega careful with money i will buy fairtrade when i can, and it is such good quality and i love knowing how the truly good products – the workers are more able to have good conditions, things they need and want and moer time with their loved ones, and go forth with their futures, and the fairtrade stuff is environmentally friendly, and much of the fairtrade products are rather cheap and so not too expensive, wishing all with the Cooperative and your loved ones and fellow customers and their loved ones well in this time of year and into the future.
