Co-op Members have been putting their thinking skills to the test to solve our collection of online puzzles, as we explored new ways to help them stay active.
In a recent wellbeing check-in, members told us that they were looking for new ways to keep active and thought joining in with puzzles would offer some welcome distraction in these unprecedented times.
So, we put together five puzzles for members to solve – a visual puzzle, catchphrase, number puzzle, logic puzzle and an anagram.
Almost 2,000 members had a go at cracking our puzzles, and more than half successfully completed them, describing them as ‘fun’ and ‘thought-provoking’.
“Good fun and got the brain ticking.”Joanne Pipes, Bury
“A nice surprise and distraction. Can we have more please?”Frank Nelson, Liverpool
The vast majority of members found the complexity of the puzzles to be about right, and they particularly liked the different challenge each question posed.
“Some were easy to do, and others took a bit more thought. It was a good mental workout.”Melanie Symes, Maybole
“I liked the variety. Trying different types pf puzzle is interesting and broadens your abilities.”Jean Hodgson, Lochgilphead
“Fun to share with the family as we could all get involved.”Tanya Knight, Musselburgh
Members also took time to give us some great ideas to improve their overall experience, which we’ll look to take on board when creating our next puzzles opportunity.
“It would be good to be told if you got the answer right before being shown the answer, so then you could try again.”Daire O’Beirne, Aberdeen
“Getting a well done or a tick would help the enjoyment.”Sue Jearey, Reading
“It would be cool if we could get our result at the end and be able to share it with friends and family on social media.”Jade Tidbury, Poole
More than 75% of members said they would like to join In with more of our online puzzles in the future, with many keen to tackle complex crosswords, wordsearches, sudoku and codeword puzzles.
Several members were keen to submit a puzzle of their own and will be testing each other’s problem-solving skills in future opportunities.
We’ll now be working through our findings and will look to incorporate some of our members’ feedback into our next puzzles opportunity and our wider plans to support members wellbeing.
In the meantime, if solving puzzles and trivia is your perfect pastime, you can join in our next online members’ quiz on Wednesday 9 September at 8pm. Members can find out more and sign up here.
