More people are shopping with us than ever before, so we’re planning to open 12 new shops in Wales this year, investing nearly £8 million and creating around 180 jobs for local people. This investment is part of a wider plan to open over 100 new stores across the UK before the end of 2017. Our like-for-like sales have been growing consistently year on year and the average person now visits a Co-op twice a week.
A local shop for local people
We’re proud to give back to the communities we serve. Members now get 5% back every time they choose Co-op own brand products, with a further 1% going to local causes like Wales Council for Deaf People, North Wales Women’s Centre and Cardiff Pedal Power.
Our stores also stock well-loved products from local producers. Glamorgan Brewing Company, for example, is just one of hundreds of local suppliers we work with across the UK. They now provide 80 of our Welsh stores with an estimated 100,000 pints of ale a year.
We are constantly asked where our ales can be bought and so working with Co-op has come at the perfect time to support our business development, build awareness of our brand and open up new markets for our business in communities across Wales. Richard Anstee, Director of Glamorgan Brewing Company
